Keiki Program




Our competitive paddling season runs from March through July each year. It is the perfect time to have some FUN, and learn a new sport! All experience and fitness levels are welcome and the program is open to any Southern California resident ages 10 to 19.


The Keiki Program focuses on learning about:
– Outrigger paddling techniques, fundamentals & equipment
– What is means to be a part of a team
– Hawaiian culture and Ohana (the Hawaiian word for family)
– Ocean awareness and safety
– Respect for the ocean, environment and others


Program Cost / Member Dues:
The cost is $150 per paddler to participate in the 4 month, race season program. If you cannot afford the program fee or need to make payments, please contact us. Our goal is to make paddling accessible to all participants.


Payment options are:
Option 1 – $100 plus your keiki must fundraise $50
Option 2 – $150 for the season, no fundraising minimum


Member Dues cover:Kai-Elua-keiki
– all race fees
– race jersey
– use of canoes/paddles
– coaching from march to july


Age, Fitness level & Swimming Requirements:
We welcome all paddlers aged 10 to 19 years old, regardless of skill or fitness level. Please note each paddler will be required to take a basic swim test. If the paddler is unable to pass the test, they must wear a PFD while in the canoe and may retake the test as many times as needed.


Race season practices start:
March 14th 2016 (you may sign up between now and April 13th.)


Practices are:

Mondays and Wednesdays from 4:00pm to 5:30pm

KEOCC is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, established in 1978 and is the oldest competitive San Diego based outrigger canoe club. We offer competitive men’s, women’s and youth programs.
